YDive Diving Club Hong Kong :: Diving
YDive Dive Boats
YDive owns two 18 foot outboard power boats, which are kept at Tai Mei Tuk Boat Club, near Tai Po, New Territories. Tai Mei Tuk is very convenient for quick access to the best Hong Kong dive sites. The boats are available to members at any time throughout the year for diving, or other activities providing the Coxn's are suitably qualified. Boat handling courses are also run by YDive and encouragement given to divers wishing to sit the Marine Department's "Masters and Engineers Certificate".
Diving in Hong Kong
Diving is carried out principally in eastern and southern Hong Kong. Dives are generally conducted from our own boats although Junk boat diving trips are arranged from time-to-time.
Throughout the year dives are scheduled on a fortnightly basis, either on Saturday or Sunday depending on demand. Additional dives trips are planned during our regular Thursday night social held at The Bridge, Lockhart Road, Wan Chai. Dive Marshals, who organise the dives, will also circulate notice by e-mail to all club members. We also dive regularly with the other two BSAC clubs in Hong Kong, SCDC and Underwater Club.
Diving in Hong Kong can be quite varied; visibility can vary from 1m to more than 10m. Temperature also varies between a chilly 17 degrees in the winter to a barney 30 degrees in the summer months. Have a look at the YDive Dive Reports for an idea what you can expect to see in Hong Kong Waters.
Dives are generally scheuled on a fortnightly basis throughout the year, with additional dives as and when members want to get out. See the YDive Dive Schedule for and idea of when we are next going out diving.
YDive Trips and Expeditions
Overseas dive trips are arranged to dive sites throughout South-East Asia by by our Expeditions Officer with "PG", Puerto Gallera in the Philippines being a freguent favourite. During 2004 Ydive club dive trips were run to Komodo and Bali in Indonesia, Sipadan and Mabul in Malaysia and, much closer to home, to Pedro Blanco.
